Someone was complaining about gas prices and saying how they used to "only" pay 50 cents a gallon back in 1974. I pointed out that adjusted for inflation, that would be $3.32 today, and our current prices are $2.81. He didn't have a response. I think I may have broken something in his brain.
@GaryPoole good on you whipping out numbers so quickly!
I'd have to Google it. π
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I did a quick Google check on my phone during the conversation. π
If they were more alert, they'd have told you that all the inflation, going back half a century, was all HARRIS' fault.
@GaryPoole He's probably thinking of what a pack of cigarettes cost back then. The oil embargo started in 1973 and lasted a long time, with record high gas prices.
@GaryPoole his ego is now adjusted for deflation.
Iβve introduced online inflation calculators to many people, the responses vary but are usually shocked. Gas is kinda tricky to get an exact apples to apples comparison as sales taxes may vary over time.
@GaryPoole
π€ Wasn't 1974 a gas shortage time, too? That may have been later, like 1978. Don't remember exactly. Anyway. I've said it before, I'll say it again: People can't math.
