It never ceases to amaze me that the little space between the driver’s seat and the center console in my car will fit any object that can possibly be dropped, but will not fit a hand.
@GaryPoole my truck has a thin pocket on the side of the console. That pocket is particularly good at catching bits of food that will spoil.

My car is a hybrid with 13 gears and push button start, yet I still need a stick shift on the floor to tell it to go forward or reverse?

@MrGoat I could drop a tuba in my car and it would fit between the seat and the center console. It's like a bubble in spacetime, and it works for everything but human hands.
