#QuestionOfTheDay: What's your cure for hiccups?
@GaryPoole Packet of table sugar underneath the tongue.
@VelvetDuchess @GaryPoole
I've heard it against the upper roof of the mouth and, inexplicably, it seems to work. Spoke to a medical friend of mine who tried it successfully and he opined that it overstimulates the nerve receptors designed to prevent mouth burns. As such, it generates priority messages to the brain that overrides certain other events. As always, not available in all areas, YMMV, and past performance is not indicative of future success.
@GaryPoole seriously, this works: find a drinking vessel made of soft material that you can grab with your teeth (red solo cup works, toddler sippy cup is also good. Add a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water. Hold the cup with your teeth, put your fingers in your ears (yes, really, stick one finger in each ear), then slowly without spilling tilt your head back so that you can sip the water and drink it all.
This a posture that helps to release the muscle that is in spasm.
No cure…. But I hate them…
@GaryPoole slow, deep breaths

Suffering through them, and hoping no one else around can hear me.
