ok ppl...it's prime day. This is what we trained for. Our shopping lists are ready; do NOT deviate from the list. Honey app is installed; always check the price history over the last 120 days because they like to jack them up right before prime day and then call it a sale. Did I mention no deviating from the list? Put that back! Whatever it is, you do not need it...unless it's a book. Buy all the books. Or wool...buy all the wool. Ohhhh or maybe a loom *wanders off*

@thatmac_cheese @Helical_Code I started shopping and couldn't help myself and then I was only one more item away from free shipping so....now I probably have enough wool to keep me busy for the next several months. That does not mean I won't order more...It does however mean that I need to start finding a spot to store my stash. Hopefully, somewhere where my SO doesn't notice it.

@Helical_Code I've ordered my second round of wool....let the fiber addiction begin!

@yogapaddlerun Greetings and good morning! It was so overcast here that I managed to go back to sleep after feeding the dogs at 6 am, which rarely happens. It was nice.

@JLong @Jeber I wish I had spent more time with my dad when was working on our cars when I was younger. He did at least teach me how to change the oil.

@deadweirdo I'm really glad I wasn't there to see it. My incredibly stoic father seemed rather traumatized by the experience.

@deadweirdo Well...when my grandpa passed away at home and they came to take the body away....they accidentally dropped him on the front sidewalk on the way to the ambulance.

@Jeber I had no idea where to even begin. A Google search and a few YouTube videos and we were good to go (with a little assistance from my neighbor who explained the purpose of the shift lock). I asked my dad how he learned to fix things without the internet. He said he usually replaced a lot of parts that didn't need replacing until he finally found the one that did πŸ˜‚

Saved myself hundreds of dollars by figuring out that the bushing on the shifter cable in my Xterra had disintegrated and the cable had disconnected from the pin. Instead of having it towed to the shop, I bought a $30 bushing. Spent an hour cussing at the assembly and sweating in the heat. Success! The Xterra will once again shift into gear. Feeling accomplished. Sometimes it's nice to figure things out for yourself.

I've been pretty happy with the garden results so far this year. The tomatoes are a little slow to come on and the vine borers have done a number on my squash, but on the whole...it's been a good summer.

Does anyone use staffing projection software that they would recommend? Bonus points if it's an app that ties into teams. I need to track multiple projects, the projected staffing needs for each project sorted by timeline and staff level/type, and then group those projections by region.

@cassandra17lina Yikes...I think I could find other things that desperately need doing like reading a book I've already read five times :)

If you're like me and you're somewhere in North Carolina thinking to yourself, it's partly cloudy, I could use a lunchtime run, let's do this....No. Do not do this. Just don't. 0/10 would not recommend. Just go inhale some hot soup into your lungs and save yourself the effort of running.

@ACG2 Good morning! I hope you have a wonderful Friday!

My Friday wish: May the coffee be strong, the phone be silent, and the day be productive. Since my staff engineer was texting me at 630pm last night for a "quick question" I can already tell this probably won't be happening. *sigh* β˜• 🌻

@Helical_Code We used Ang and Tang's probability concepts (book 1) and decision, risk and reliability (book 2) for engineering statistics. I'm not sure if engineering statistics differs from other fields but we deal with a lot of natural phenomena (e.g., storms, earthquakes, floods, etc.). We also have to cover decisions made on the basis of risk analyses and evaluation of consequences of failure (i.e., how much do we have to pay you if we accidentally kill your family member).

Good morning CoSo! We're trying out the double caffeinated Cyclone coffee this morning and hoping that gets us through this Thursday. For some reason short weeks always feel longer than regular weeks, but it's almost over.
