The US is a lot like a swimming pool with lanes. NY makes sure people have swimming lessons, don't pee in their lane, don't bring glass in their lane, or have violent diarrhea right before getting in their lane.

But Pennsylvania is having a swim club for incontinent toddlers, Ohio set up a bean burrito buffet right next to the pool, West Virginia doesn't want to pay their share for chlorine but still wants to swim and Kentucky is selling swim trunks that come with pocket nails.

@Florence @MsJudyJetson by not being questioned, AT ALL by network news, it is getting normalized as well. They keep viewing these terroristic actions as singular events rather than label them as right wing extremism - yet they then have the gall to turn around and point it out in other countries.
And the same people who were beating middle easterners after 9/11 are the ones that are directing it at their neighbors now.

@nopuppet_007 @Florence The thing that really chafes my shorts about that is that news anchors know better. They are deliberately letting all the hate language slide because of ratings. So, they are indirectly fanning the flames for $, which has to be about the lowest ring of Hell. It's completely irresponsible. F all the news these days. Asholes.

@Florence I absolutely can't read, watch, talk about the Holocaust since his class. The post I wrote is the most I've written about it since that class all those years ago. I think I have some PTSD from that class.

@Florence I think a lot of people (and I'm one, tbh) believe you have to have some amount of mental illness to embrace such hateful ideology. So, knowing he self describes as having Bipolar Disorder gives a handy bucket. Doesn't make it right. But does show how hard we try and fail to understand what draws people to these kind of hateful ideologies (much less find ways to fight it)

I find Nazism so deeply repugnant, it's hard for me to even hear references to it. My stepmom is Jewish (and my half brother & sister, both stepbrothers). I took Critical Approach to Cinema at American University with Arnost Lustig, a survivor. I read 3 of his books and watched ... 2 or 3? movies about them. I had vague ideas about the Holocaust but after this class, I had much deeper knowledge. Horrific. Can't even talk about it now. #NazisAreBad
