Is it just me or do some people misunderstand counter social? Maybe they're used to the bird? I see posts from new people which simply say 'Follow me across social media' and nothing else, no introduction etc. I'm not being critical, perhaps that works for some people, but it seems a bit self-interesed to me (like the big accoutns on Twitter who just want loads of follows or something?
As I say, it's probably just me.
@GaryPoole I love the kinder atmoshere, the fact the people really ARE interested in each other and you always get someone interacting, no matter how 'niche' your interests are. xx
@Florence the first thing I noticed when I found CoSo (thanks to a tip from my sister @kimlockhartga) is that this is a true "social" media site where people have actual conversations.
@GaryPoole @kimlockhartga Truly! I find the same. It's been so interesting and fun. I used to dread opening Twitter sometimes as I didn't like the tone of the conversation, if that makes sense. It was always just about to explode. Here it's more like having coffee with friends.

@MrsDanaD @GaryPoole @kimlockhartga It's about civility as you said. I've noticed that particularly. No one is interested in arguing! Me neither. I certainly have said things on Twitter which probably don't reflect on me very well, but here I just don't feel the need. It's much more mellow.

@MrsDanaD Me too. I'm so glad others feel the same way. I looked at people replying to me when I joined and, if I liked or was interested in their profile, then I followed them.

Mostly I just see how the conversations go every time I’m here.
If someone follows me first, on this site I follow back. I’m cool until someone isn’t.
On the bird, I’d never follow so blindly but this site is very different.
And that’s why I love it.
@MrsDanaD I had that exact experience yesterday. Someone followed me and I was instantly suspicious! Then I remember I was here (not there) and it feels SO much more natural/organic. xx

@MrsDanaD It honestly does. I'm capable of standing up for myself but I miss having decent conversations, a bit of critical thinking, and being able to disagree courteously. I can do all of the above here though!
Even if someone disagrees, there won’t be vitriol then a bunch of trolls on top of that.

@Florence Nope, not just you! Follower-collecting is a turn-off for me. Who wants to be viewed as a number rather than as a human being? I don't.
@kaylcrawford Great way to put it|! In any case, how on earth can you truly interact with thousands of people? It's like going to a restaurant and, instead of a normal -sized plate of food, they give you a gargantuan one which makes you feel sick before you even begin.
@Florence Restaurant analogy is pretty good, I think. You can't reasonably order everything on most menus and eat it all in one sitting. You're not going to like everything on the menu anyway. You choose depending on preference and how hungry you are.
Nice to have the buffet option, but you don't have to sample every single thing. 😀
