Today I drove 4 hours round trip to Denver to pick up flooring for my project that was supposed to arrive here today --but they dropped it at the wrong warehouse, in the wrong city. When I got home and took a closer look I found it's not the right material.

Well, crap. Lucky Lizard has passed. I don't know if it starved or accidentally got stepped on on the carpet. I had guests. I've seen it two or three times in the last 10 days since I first saw it. I always picked it up and put it in a plant. Yesterday it was belly up.

Today my El Salvadoran labor showed up looking for work. I put him on reinforcing the chimney in the basement - had to chase cement, mesh, rebar & build forms this morning. Only got half a day in on repairing my cabinets but should be able to final them tomorrow and land the countertop. Also cleaned out my trailer and truck to reorganize all my crap from the last project I threw in the trlr B4 off to PR last time. I have way much to do in too short of time to do it but I will make it happen. 😅

According to prelim information, there is really no reason for me to be there. No archaeology known or expected. Minimum environmental issues. So I'm going to occupy a vehicle 6 days inspecting a mile or so R.O.W. with almost no duties but filling out a no impact noted report, and time sheet.

This is going to be a struggle to maintain sanity. Depends if I can work/study other things in my truck for much of the day, or if I'm expected to "lean on a shovel" all day.

Well things are firming up. I've done more background and security and drug checks for this job than all jobs I've ever had combined.

Location is in eastern Iowa, near Debuque. Duration is 3 months to a year or more, depending which of a couple locations I choose.

Schedule is 5-6 days, sometimes 7? No rotational time off -- just there for the duration. Gonna have to chat with them about that when I have more leverage.

Well it's been a bit since I posted. Been a bit busy. The kitchen rebuild is coming along. Waiting on flooring - Wednesday? ...or Friday? Upper cabs hung last night, base cabs set but not final yet. Have to trim windows and doors today and tomorrow. Always don't have something I need. I have a week to finish. The last pic is what it was. Oh, and the whole house is covered in demo-dust. I have guests checking in on the 7th, but I'm out of town on the 3rd. Yikes!

Well good morning all! While yesterday was kind of a punt, today starting out with a Lucky Lizard in the house.🦎 We had foot and a half of snow a couple days ago. I don't know where this one's been, but I put 'em in a pot near the window in hopes they thrive!

Well 2 days later and so many things have gotten in the way. All legitimate. Weather, had to help a friend move the final things from an alzheimer patient's house they had to leave to go live in assisted housing. Ordering flooring took way too long and I'll need it next week. And I'm still running at half speed. But, it's all good. There's time. I have 3 weeks to finish. That's plenty. Right?😅

It was finally light enough for a pic of the back yard. Time for a nap - only 5 hrs sleep last night. Supposed to stay cold and snowy thru Sunday.

Good morning CounterSocialists. First cuppa ☕ done. Still dark-ish out with a foot or more of new snow. Hunkering down and enjoying a slow morning. Maybe oat pancakes and eggs later. On the agenda; I have to glue and screw the new subfloor in the downstairs kitchen. Then get out the sprayer and prime the new drywall. They could both happen if I don't let distractions in. I set out to do it yesterday but ended up having to do additional mud work and other prep. Still getting over the crud. Low ⚡.

So for fun and education last week I spun up an Ubuntu server on a spare machine here at home. Installed postgres and was going to practice my sql on a small dataset and other sysadmin stuff I haven't done in a long while.

I got distracted for a week.

Okay I'm 67, and other than Pac-Man a little bit of Mario Brothers and asteroids and pong decades ago. I haven't played any games online or off. I just have no interest. I puzzle out fixing things and building things and ain't got time or interest for that shit. Anybody with me or am I weird. Okay, don't answer that. 🤧✌️

Just woken up, I have no idea if I gained or lost an hour and the only clock that wouldn't change in the house is the microwave - but I had unplugged it and plugged it back in sometime before I went to bed while reorganizing things in the pantry where it sits. I either slept for 5 hours or 7 and I have no idea.
