The Veepstakes is a broader field than previously reported. Raimondo is a newer mention. Pritzker moves from some wish lists to now having been reached out to. Adm. William McRaven keeps popping up. Mark Cuban on the outside possibilities, but still possible:

Kamala Harris vetting about a dozen possible VP candidates

It seems the cited dispute had a background. The nominee had served in the same post under Obama and was known for using an interpretation of independent contractor that had been found to be outside the rules of the department and which had the effect of shifting a lot of responsibility onto potentially vulnerable small businesses. So in fairness I'll link that discussion as well.

As much as I like Kelly, he isn't the perfect candidate even if I still think he's the best one. But be prepared to hear the bad stuff because it does exist.

'In 2022, Kelly joined Sinema and Manchin to hand the Biden administration a surprise defeat in the Senate on a nominee to lead the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division. The move was the first time that a Biden nominee had lost a Senate floor vote, surprising both the administration and Senate leadership.'

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) is before the Senate. On its face an effort to protect children by making the internet a safer place for them, here the Heritage Foundation tells us directly how they plan to misappropriate it into a weapon against LGBTQ+ content.

Opinion pieces are frustrating. But I found some parts of this to be thoughtful.

'Kelly’s political success is based on a now-proven playbook for Democrats in Arizona. Run to the center, appeal to independents ...and moderates, debate as infrequently as possible, limit public speaking, keep a low profile with the media, raise money and run ads. Kelly follows this playbook perfectly, and it has worked well for him. But it would not work for him as the VP candidate.'

'The product page also includes a favorable review from Vance. β€œNever before has a figure with Roberts’s depth and stature within the American Right tried to articulate a genuinely new future for conservatism,” the review says. β€œWe are now all realizing that it’s time to circle the wagons and load the muskets. In the fights that lay ahead, these ideas are an essential weapon.”'

March for Our Lives Makes Its First-Ever Political Endorsement: Kamala Harris

'β€œMarch For Our Lives will work to mobilize young people across the country to support Vice President Harris and other down-ballot candidates, with a particular focus on the states and races where we can make up the margin of victory β€” in Arizona, New York, Michigan, and Florida,” she wrote.'

'On Monday, Karen Tumulty, ...wrote that β€œHarris’ smartest selection would be Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona.”

CNN’s Washington correspondent Jamie Gangel said the Harris team had given her names. Gangel then mentioned first and talked up, Kelly, β€œwho I am told (Harris) likes a lot, knows very well, and as we saw, he has already come out to endorse her publicly. That happened very quickly, and I know their camps speak to each other quite often.”'
