Hi, everyone! Happy Friday!

A little bit about me: I'm an activist for political moderation, truth, and national unity. I've got a substack (link below). I believe in fairness, the rule of law, and the beauty of diversity. I'm very happily a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I value the separation of church and state -- we all have freedoms that depend on it. I'm also a cat lover. 😻

Robert De Niro: "Let’s reach out to Trump’s followers with respect. Let’s not talk about 'democracy.' ...Let’s talk about right and wrong. Let’s talk about humanity. Let’s talk about kindness. Security for our world. Safety for our families. Decency. Let’s welcome them back. We won’t get them all, but we can get enough to end the nightmare of Trump..."

Wallner: "Tuberville's blanket hold on 200+ military nominations only works if senators let it...Tuberville – or his proxy – must be on the floor to enforce his hold if another senator asks unanimous consent to confirm those nominees."

His proxy is Leader Mitch McConnell.

I'd like to see more discussion about why refuses to allow civilians from to take refuge in their country during the current turmoil. I can speculate. But I'd rather hear from those with direct knowledge, or at least with considerable expertise.

Steve Scalise is the GOP's nominee for House speaker. We'll see how the floor voting goes.

Another day, another election denier floating to the top of the GOP pile. The man should not be in office. Let's end the Republican majority in 2024, shall we?

"This week’s historic sacking of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has raised critical questions about the sustainability of today’s Republican party."

This case is a bit different than the case. But couldn't they have just removed her from the committee?

Y'all, legislative seats belong to the . Representative gov't isn't a treehouse where members can simply expel kids they don't like from the club. Yes, she did wrong. But free speech is still free speech, and she is still entitled to her views. Save expulsion for reps under indictment or cases of similar severity.

HB3018 would have banned in that state. I think the following 9 state senators who killed the bill in committee owe the public some explanations. Please boost if you agree.

Michael T. Azinger
Laura Wakim Chapman
Mark Hunt
Patrick S. Martin
Mark R. Maynard
Patricia Puertas Rucker
David Stover
Mike Stuart
Jay Taylor

I have to say, I'm not a fan of this Democratic strategy, this time being pulled by @WisDems. Who pays the price if the GOP extremist wins the general? Answer: Everyone. Can voters be entirely blamed if that happens? Answer: No.

"Dehumanizing the 'other' to the nth degree is an overpriced ticket into a tight-knit but everlastingly blind herd of fellows far too susceptible to flattery and other types of manipulation."

George Will (2021): "We have something new in American history. We have a political party defined by the terror it feels for its own voters. That's the Republican Party right now."

This is from a recent WAPO article:

"As local economies grapple with a tightening labor market, some state legislatures are looking to relax child labor protections to help employers meet hiring needs."

I’m so much looking forward to this event (PF, not CPAC). It’s open to anyone who wants to attend. Registration is only $45.

Gen Z, how much we need you!

Sargent: "Older Democrats sometimes seem beholden to a picture of the GOP as it existed in the 1980s... In their nostalgic vision, bipartisanship was an ideal that could be maintained through outrage and shaming.

"By contrast, younger Democrats came of age in the aftermath of...Gingrich’s scorched-earth politics, conspiracy theories about the Clintons...Rove’s Iraq War propaganda, and the deranged 'birtherism' directed at Barack Obama."

, here's a movement individual Christians who value religious freedom and social equity might consider supporting. Let's face it, is for the birds.

One thing you might consider doing instead is forging connections with people from other walks of life outside your usual circle or tribe.

We're all human. Our differences are smaller than we think.
