Random question: what was your first-ever computer? Mine was a Gateway 64 desktop (in the cow print box) with a 512 MB hard drive.

@FabulousLVNV

Built from scratch Pentium 66 processor

1st game was Steel Panthers -the reason for getting getting the PC in the first place.

Spent weeks troubleshooting sound with batch files OMG!

@FabulousLVNV

Yeah, i followed and read the instructions that came with the motherboard and chipset.๐Ÿ˜‚

@FabulousLVNV I think it was a Gateway. My ex made the purchase. I remember the cow print box!

@FabulousLVNV

A really crappy Chinese Compaq "luggable" clone. I must have repaired the power supply on that thing a dozen times.

@FabulousLVNV Absolute first was a TRS-80, though I made very little use of it. The first I made use of was a white-box 486DX2-66 with 8 MB of RAM and a 400 MB hard drive. I upgraded the rig to an Am5x86 (something *like* a Pentium 75 in terms of performance but compatible with some boards that seated 486's), 96 MB of RAM and a 2 GB hard drive. I got a fair amount of mileage out of it, particularly after a Pentium II rig I got later died a premature death.
