Joe Conason on #47 Cabinet Selections
What stands between our country and the national wreckage portended by these abominable Trump appointees is the U.S. Senate. There is no more important function outlined in the Constitution for that deliberative body, and there has never been a more urgent need for senators to stand up and protect the nation.

@Madken65 but dont they always challenge the candidate. but vote them in anyway?? Historically speaking that is what i have noticed..

So far, they don’t buck party lines, but they have made it clear that candidates should withdraw if they won’t have the votes. It’s only recently there have been so many cabinet and judicial positions left vacant with no acceptable nominees, though.
