Watching a show, and they're trying to imply that a couple of hundred dollars is a shockingly high price for a handknit sweater. A sweater represents many hours of skilled labor, it can take years to learn certain skills. The sweater looked complicated, so maybe 30 hours of knitting for a $200 sweater is $6 per hour for a skilled trade, less than minimum wage.
@tippitiwichet wtf. $200 is a steal.
@tippitiwichet don’t really know that people fully understand how much work goes into certain types of art and craft. I don’t know that most are intending to be insulting, but just really have no idea. It’s cool that you showed her, she will most likely keep that in mind for future purchases, which is good for both her and the artist.
Know there are also lots of people who are just trying to get a great item for pocket change. They neg the item, diminish the effort. Those can jog the eff on.
