A community-powered, altruistic social media experience, if you can keep it.

We are 100% crowd-powered.
By you, FOR YOU.
While it might seem helpful to reduce our expenses by using us less, doing so causes far more harm than good.
It is your contribution to this community that gives it value. We don't need less of what makes us special.
We need more. Much more.
Tell your friends. Share the love. Help us grow, and watch us thrive. #CoSoTips
@CoSoTips Can you explain your first sentence for us? Specifically, "if you can keep it". Thanks :)
Interesting :) I'm not sure what it means, but it comes across as vaguely pointing to loosing the site for reasons that aren't clear. Is it lack of crowd-funding or something(s) else? @SaltyVeruca @CoSoTips
@CoSoTips using less of what? sorry, you aren't making sense with some of your thoughts. I just want to be clear what you are saying :) Not trying to attack or anything negative :)
@CoSoTips And look at it this way.
On Facebook and the other "free" sites, you are _not_ the customer. The customers are the advertisers and propagandists. They pay for the product, and the product is _you_. You are what is being sold.
Here, if we pay the bills, we're the actual user of the site, not the product being sold to someone else who intends us harm.
@CoSoTips Two months of counter.social costs as much as a pack of cigarettes, or two drinks at Starbucks.
It's not expensive for us, if we chip in. It's an amount of money that for most of us can have easily disappear from purchases we don't even _remember_.
17 cents a day.
That's less than most news subscriptions. Less than Netflix. And we're far more rewarding and engaging than a lot of the stuff we'd otherwise spend that cash on.
@CoSoTips
Altruism has become so rare in today's society, I have to acknowledge it whem I see it, & the "hacker" known as Jester is one of those rare prople. Happy 7th & best of luck to Jester & COSO.

We feel that it goes without saying, but we will say it anyways.
Running CounterSocial is not without significant expense. If that expense is not covered by the community, then there will come a point at which CounterSocial ceases to exist.
That's just math.
Every other social has bridged this gap by selling user data, selling advertisements, or accepting investments from shadowy VCs with ulterior motives. We have not. We rely on YOU.
TLDR: Your support keeps us alive. #CoSoTips
