Interviews went well; I have two in mind. This time we showed them the control room. I've found initial reaction reveals a lot about the candidate. The right ones eyes lit up, were engrossed, asked questions. Plus, it's important I get the second opinions of candidates from my team.

Our former service manager fucked up the job description making it so that only a small percentage of people could get past the application stage - most of my capable, existing CCTV ops wouldn't even have gotten through.

As the first CCTV Manager in over ten years I took the decision to offer all but one of this batch the chance of an interview; then I'm fixing the JD! 🤘

I find re-watching box sets of shows from when there was 20+ episodes over 4+ seasons is far more satisfying than modern shows where you can be done and dusted in a weekend - maybe need to dip a toe into Monday evening.
