Open a book this minute and start reading. Don’t move until you’ve reached page fifty. Until you’ve buried your thoughts in print. Cover yourself with words. Wash yourself away. Dissolve.

One of my most favorite books, The Alienist by Caleb Carr, is coming to TV on Monday on TNT with Luke Evans as the narrator, John Moore. However, if you plan to watch, I urge you to read the book first. It is set in 1890s NYC and the investigation of shocking murders using new forensics.. fingerprinting and psychology. Think Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper. This book fostered my love of historical crime solving fiction w/facts #CoSoBookClub
Poll: How many could handle their books like this and how many would go slowly mad before tearing down the shelves?

"The public library, located in the Çankaya district of Ankara, was founded after sanitation workers started collecting discarded books for the past months.
_____
Initially, the books were only for employees and their families to borrow. But as the collection grew and interest spread throughout the community, the library was eventually opened to the public in September of last year. Today, the library has over 6,000 books."

I'll be honest here.. I wouldn't even know what lists to make or who to include. Example. #CoSoBookClub seems like it should be all inclusive, I'd hate to think my list excluded someone so that I couldn't see their input.
“The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.”

"Or is it the case that no one ever truly gets over anything? Is there really that much pain and suffering continuing right now at this minute, in millions of hearts, in bodies carrying on the burden of existence, trying to smile, through tears for fleeting, passing moments here and there—when they can forget what happened to them, maybe even for a whole hours at a time? Maybe that's what it is to live."
~ Koethi Zan, The Never List

We need the books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us.
~ Franz Kafka
I'm posting this in case some like to be challenged. As for me, well I am a bit of a rebel and resist conforming to even the easiest of lists.
I'll just read what I damn well please. 📚 🤣

Helpful Hint for #CoSoBookClub.
If you are like me and read a lot of fiction, you may find that books are re-released with new covers from time to time (esp. romance) , especially if the author has changed publishers. "Book Catalogue" lets you scan the barcode of books and then decide which "shelf" you want to place them in, ie fiction, autobiography, art.. Free, easy to use and you can export the list. Integrates with goodreads. Bar scanner download optional.
