I know Gen X is also known as "The Slacker Generation" but we're all in our late 40s and 50s now, so I don't think we really qualify as up and coming youngsters. Also, most of us work our asses off just to make ends meet. I personally have been pulling 12-14 hour days on a salary working in health care which means I don't get any overtime for my troubles.
So. You know. Whatever Boomer.
From NextDoor dot com:
@CarrieLikesCoffee Boomers are just pissed that they "raised" us this way. Deflecting their own guilt, anger and disappoinment from themselves to us.
Meh, whatever. Just leave me alone. 🤷♂️😂
@ThrasherPrime We're the generation that's been so ignored and forgotten that we've looped around and become an entirely different generation Lol
@CarrieLikesCoffee I'm proud of being Gen X and wear it on my sleeve. And I'm happy AF when the boomers get mad.
As a late 50’s boomer, believe it or not, we got this same shit, that rock and sex and drugs was destroying our moral fiber and ITS FUCKING END OF DAYS.
That was the 1960’s and 1970’s and we were destroying this country.
I think it’s all bullshit older people who vote conservative want to blame on younger people.
I’m 65 and remember getting shat on. Too lazy, too liberal, not the right this or that.
Fuck it.
Maybe this Gen X and Z will break this cycle.
@feloneouscat I have high hopes for Gen Z. My youngest is Gen Z and regularly calls me out on my own bullshit and I love him for it.
The 60s and 70s were such a huge anti-war and anti-discrimmination revolutionary time which is why it's so perplexing to me that so many from that generation are the way they are.
@CarrieLikesCoffee As a xilennial, I can also say working one on one with people is highly overrated.
@Siren_six Totally. The only reason I can pull these long hours is because I work remote.
I'm also way more productive than when I was doing the same job in an office and getting constant interruptions from coworkers. I can actually focus on a task and get it done.
@CarrieLikesCoffee Exactly. When I’m able to work from home I’m much more productive as well and I need to be considering how understaffed our office is.
@CarrieLikesCoffee Gen-X realized early on things were going to be worse than what their parents experienced (the environment, economy, etc). Many questioned suburbia and preferred living in cities. They knew what would happen if you offshored living wage, union jobs in the name of cheap TVs.
Gen-X has never been liked and you see that coming back now that Gen-Z is much like them, but angrier and more vigilant. When boomers are worried that is a great sign
Also, Gen Z (which is what I assume is the generation they're trying to refer to) are an amazing generation who understands the issues in the modern world with an impressive amount of depth and insight. Kudos to them for not putting up with the bullshit.
