Speaking of LSD, I offer Acid Cat (dunno the backstory on this image maybe no cats were dosed in its making)

@gemswinc

I wrote a paper in an Expository Writing class titled The Dread LSD, in which I 'debunked' some of the media's claims about the use of the drug. I did have some personal experience in the topic. I turned in my first draft and got it back with some notes in red...

The one I remember, I still have the paper somewhere, is - This would have failed with any more misspellings and grammatical errors. Maybe have someone proofread your next paper, Preferably when not stoned.

@tgraph52 Ah yes, I also have personal experience ๐Ÿ‰ @CanisPundit

@tgraph52 And there were dragons, messengers from the collective unconscious @CanisPundit

@tgraph52 I never had a bad trip, until 11/5/2024 ๐Ÿ™„ @CanisPundit

@tgraph52 @gemswinc ๐Ÿ˜did you pass with flying colors?

With a nod to you, you know who you are.

@John_Ripley @CanisPundit @gemswinc

we came across LSD senior year in high school in 1969 and had some fun with it and did some cool light shows while under the influence.

@tgraph52 @John_Ripley @CanisPundit Oh I had some fun, but the first trip was supremely spiritual. Never happened again.

@gemswinc

there was a night when 4 of us really worked through to the meaning of the universe... it had something to do with light and the direction north... it's a bit vague 54 years later. But it was a revelation that night.

On the down side, I had a friend who felt that his onset of progressive schizophrenia was due to the amount of LSD he did back then.

@tgraph52 Yes, it's not something I would do lightly now

@gemswinc

I had a really bad time in 1971 with it and then did it some more.. but the 2nd rough time was the end for me.

But it was a trip, as the kids say.

@tgraph52 Sorry you had unpleasant experiences. Also tried mescaline. Never had an issue. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@tgraph52 On my first trip, when the dragons appeared, like a tapestry through which I could see, I was afraid, and then I directed the dragons to not to be frightening. I think the same technique used in the Bardo, if that is to be believed. Later, I saw my dragons at the Met Museum ( had never seen before trip) and realized they were Chinese Dragons. My take is I tapped into the collective unconscious

@gemswinc @tgraph52

My first trip, 50 years ago, and was spectacular.

Not long after, the introduction of PCP into just about everything started steering me away.

@gemswinc @tgraph52

I think that played a big part for many of us. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Can't say I wouldn't do it all the same way, again.๐Ÿคฃ

@gemswinc

we had mescaline, peyote and mushrooms and who knows what was really in some of that. I came to recognize strychnine's effects in some of the later acid...

The first bad night was a party with a big bunch of us all tripping and playing Beatles LPs backwards ๐Ÿ˜œ .. and a friend came in late and said he wanted some so I took another dose with his first.... Not a good idea. Oh well. Saw some interesting things going on in the sky... But lost my facility with English too.

@gemswinc

All that was a long long time ago... but with some good memories of some intense nights with friends.

@tgraph52 @gemswinc

This latter unfortunate occurrence comports with events recounted in "Poisoner In Chief."

@John_Ripley @tgraph52 @CanisPundit Once you have these experiences, your mind is opened, I do believe it subtly changed my life

@CanisPundit

Thatโ€™s Sid Gottliebโ€™s cat. @Bix confirmed this with the Guv (as seen on Bluesky).
