@voltronic @Alfred is a wee bit off, but it is still workable. I just started working on 'Fool on the Hill' in standard tuning. As much as I love alternate tunings, I think I'll stick with standard for it. Ex. D6 4th string open, 3rd 4th fret, 2nd string 7th fret, Em/D D6 4th string open, 3rd string 7th fret, 2nd string 8th fret.
@CanisPundit @voltronic @Alfred Quite a detailed answer though !
@CanisPundit A good d6 tuning for playing 'Fool on the Hill' with open strings and fretted notes would be D-A-D-F#-A-D. This tuning allows you to play all the relevant chords mentioned using a combination of open strings and fretted notes. To play the Em chord, you can simply strum the open strings in this tuning. For the Em7 chord, you can barre the second fret with your index finger across all strings and play the open fourth string. For the A7 chord, you can play the open fifth string and the open second string while fretting the second fret on the fourth string. The Bm chord can be played by fretting the second fret on the fifth string and leaving the rest of the strings open. And finally, the C7 chord can be played by fretting the third fret on the fifth string and playing the open fourth string. With this tuning, you should be able to easily play 'Fool on the Hill' using a combination of open strings and fretted notes. Enjoy playing!
