Is anyone familiar with this weird expression?
When we were kids, if there was work to do and we weren't doing it, our mother would yell "Stop sitting around with your thumb up your ass and your mind in Egypt - get to work!"
I've never heard anyone else say that. Did she make it up? (Weird!) Or is/was that actually a thing?
@BrazenlyLiberal New to me. I like it!
@BrazenlyLiberal I've heard the first part but not the Egypt part.
@TrueBloodNet @BrazenlyLiberal
Same, heard the first part but not the second.
Found one.
Talking to husband about this, he said when he was a kid, his late mother used to say that, too. Even the Egypt bit.
