@Bix Channeling Maxwell Smart: And....loving it. They voted these idiots into office, disavowed climate change, and I'll be damned if one of my dollars is spent saving their arses!
The really tough part here, and I know people won't like to hear this.
We can't just be doing this for our "comrades". We have to fight for everyone, including the people who have been taken in by the "other side".
It's the fact we've been turned into other sides that will kill us.
The entire human race is a family, like it or not, and we have to be responsible even for the worst of us.
The Jehovah's Witnesses go out every weekend to get doors slammed in their face. They do it because they believe it is their duty to save others, even if those people would revile them.
Imagine if we could bring a little of that spirit to helping others with things that are real, and not a belief in angry sky beards.
You don't have to be dumb to try and heal your enemy, you gotta be tough.
@AskTheDevil @ReneeVoiceBrand @Bix i figured that the first step is just to recognize that not everyone in a state that votes red is the enemy. But yes, of course, all people should be recognized as having the same rights. I'll also point out that unlike when trump was prez, the top-down order during the current disasters has been that everybody does get helped. We just need to watch our online rhetoric
Agreed Thanks. Lately, I've been sensitive to the idea that we don't want to become the enemy. Like they're infectious.
You know how they're always accusing others of grooming, and how every accusation is a confession?
They want us on their level.
@AskTheDevil Oddly enough, I'm going to reference "The Sixth Sense." A lot of people are walking around who are dead and don't even know it. They would fight the very suggestion. They can be scary. It's still our duty to try to love and help them. @GlennS @ReneeVoiceBrand @Bix
@AskTheDevi And in helping them we also help ourselves. l @GlennS @ReneeVoiceBrand @Bix
We don’t think anyone should die because of climate change. But it is happening because of the people being voted into office. That’s a reality. Blue or Red, doesn’t matter. The left does not want people to die because of this, but we acknowledge that it will happen and that we may be helpless to prevent it.
@Iskios that isn't what was stated above and I'm seeing similar statements about the red states all over the net, not just one off the cuff remark here. Maybe the one good thing that will come out of these hurricanes is that some of the climate change deniers will change their tunes but that might be naive of me to hope.
@GlennS Hope is never naive! What would we be if we gave up hope?
Keep hoping!
@Bix
Interesting. Disney World has power. That blue area in the middle? I'm pretty sure that's where Disney World is. I wonder how they do their whole power situation so that they have power? Seems like maybe other places could learn from that.
