Theravada Buddhists dress the deceased in white and lay the body out for a vigil, during which monks are invited to chant and offer blessings. The dead person’s hand lies extended, and visitors pour a cup of water over the hand into a bowl of water in which blossoms float— asking forgiveness for any transgressions against the person during her life.

In the monastery, when an elder monk or nun dies, the vigil can last a week. And all are instructed to Meditate on Death.

Stamp is carved! Love how this came out. I will explain the meaning/significance in a blog post at some point in the future. Currently putting polyurethane on the block and then I will assemble!

@MrGoat here it is!

Did a 45 minute yoga video tonight. Felt good. Anyone else use Apple Fitness+?

Almost done carving the stamp! Just a couple small details I didn’t want to do right before bed. I will hopefully be able to pull a test print tomorrow.

Making progress on the stamp. Did some preliminary layout sketches and a final sketch onto the rubber. Need to carve. Then assemble the block to the handle.

Seven years ago I came to the conclusion that Social Media is NOT helping discourse. That's why I called this site 'COUNTER Social'.

I decided to at least TRY to fight fire with fire.

Been having a hard time getting out of my own way lately. Today I was inspired to start working on a stamp. I don’t know why but I won’t ask any questions. Just have to follow the movements in my mind.

@Alfred, write me a love sonnet to Counter Social in iambic pentameter.

Been listening to a lot of “The Cat Empire” lately. It is music to ignite and heal your soul.

@Alfred if you made something you were really proud of, how would you tell people about it?

@Alfred, this is a linoleum print I made of a bumblebee. Early this summer something big landed on my shoulder and I instinctively swatted at it. I realized too late that it was just a bumblebee. It got frightened and stung me, but of course died after. I felt so bad that I made this piece of art honoring its memory. Do you like it?
