@Jeber @BipolarArtist also Im seeing error code 502 which tells me there's heavy traffic
Did you check the User Guide for instructions?
And yes, In my experience, it sometimes takes WordPress 5 min or so to properly link to a site via web. Where i need to refresh a few times and sometimes even log out and return later.
@Bliss I couldn’t find it in the user guide but I’ll check again. I added that code to my website last night and it still isn’t showing the green check in CS. I will try logging out and logging in again.
@BipolarArtist @Bliss @Jeber
FWIW, this has been a problem for *some* accounts (not all) since the DOS attacks in the end of October. I have two links on my profile attempting to use the rel="me" profile links: one is checked/green, the other is not, and they're on the same exact domain.
Someone last week said he got his to work (showed checked) and had set it up a few hours before.
¯\_( ͡° ͟ʖ ͡°)_/¯
@FernLovebond @BipolarArtist @Bliss
Thanks for the info.
@FernLovebond @BipolarArtist @Bliss
That worked great. I put the code in the footer of my blog. Next, let's try Medium.
@FernLovebond @Bliss @Jeber huh ok. Well at least it doesn’t seem like I did anything wrong. Thanks for the help.
@BipolarArtist
Just to make sure. You dropped to code into your website but when you use the live link on your site to link back to coso it doesnt bring you back?
Does the link buffer? Do you get an error code?
Before you answer, 1 common issue is not copying full code. Did you make sure that you copied everything in the box by using short keys rather than mouse?
Not trying to insult your skill, its just a common error and im going down the list of possible trouble shooting steps.
@Bliss haha I am not offended at all because I only half know what I’m doing. I did it on desktop and there is a button “copy code” which I selected and pasted onto my website. The live link on my website links back to CS when you right click on the link and say “open in new tab”. It seems to be linked both ways but I don’t know if I need to tell CS to go check my website again somehow.
@Bliss I tried it both on the home screen and on a sub page. Right now it is at the bottom of this page on my website: https://damienkanerigden.com/subscribe. I can move it back to my homepage if I need to but that didn’t work either.
@Bliss just for reference, what I am looking to happen is to get the green check mark next to my website on my profile page.
This is what i got on my phone. Let me go to my desktop. Give me 5 min and I'll take a look at html also
@Bliss I just moved it to my homepage at the bottom
@BipolarArtist all is beautiful and in working order. see comment and image 2 comments ago
This is the mobile version of the landing page. The link from your website will take folks to a viewing page outside of coso that sort of looks like this (without the edit profile button). If you're on mobile it takes you back inside to coso not the landing page. On desktop it does take you to the personal landing page
@Bliss @BipolarArtist
Got ya. So there should be an indication on our profile that it's working.
Everything is fine from my perspective. It takes me to your landing page. This is what non-coso folks and coso desktop subscribers will see when they click on your website link. You're good.
BTW, beautiful artwork on your landing page.
@BipolarArtist @Jeber I on't know what green check you're referring to. I don't have a green check either on my landing page if that's where its supposed to be. Is that something indicated in the user guide?
Ok I reviewed your entire webpage and you have 1 broken link. I've forgotten all my javascript (its been decades since I did this work) but I circled where the broken element is so you can either remove it or fix it. Since you already have a working coso link elsewhere wihere you list all your digital links I recommend you remove this link from here.
@BipolarArtist @Jeber I see what you mean. I'm going to tag @phase and @MrGoat so they can let you know about the checkmarks next to the pro subscriber names/handles.
Glad at least we were able to fix your webpage. I subscribed to your site because you do beautiful work.
@Bliss that is so great. Thank you for subscribing! And for all of your help!
@BipolarArtist
Glad I could help. You get to pay it forward. 😊
@Bliss haha of course!
@Bliss @BipolarArtist @phase @MrGoat
Got them all fixed up except Medium. It doesn't seem to like HTML.
@Jeber, nicely done. How/where did you add it to those pages?
@BipolarArtist If you can't change the code then you do not own the site ? @Jeber
@BipolarArtist You should be able to edit in code view as well as a GUI view. >.> @Jeber
@BipolarArtist With any web builder there should be the option to see the code and edit that way. I can't remember one that didn't allow me to do so. I've used wix and other things like angelfire in the past. @Jeber
@MrGoat this is what I have already done. If you check out my website https://damienkanerigden.com at the bottom is this href link to counter social. That was added using the method in this instruction.
@MrGoat @BipolarArtist
Good point. I wasn’t thinking about ownership. That makes perfect sense. Thanks.
@BipolarArtist You could put the rel link in an image >.> @Jeber
@BipolarArtist You can make a page called VerifyRELME.html and use that with only that line of code make it hidden page. @Jeber
If you use a new device that hasn't been linked to coso you will see it. Old school trick.
@BipolarArtist I'm looking at your website source code and I don't see any link rel=me tag anywhere.
Where did you put it?
@got it is on https://damienkanerigden.com/subscribe at the bottom
@BipolarArtist You need way more than a link in the body of your document, the whole <link rel="me" ...> thing needs to be inside of your web page's <head> section.
If you can edit the HTML for your website, you should put it there -- inside the home page.
@got ah gotcha. Thank you so much for the help. Unfortunately all I can do is add html to the body of my website. I am using GoDaddy’s website builder and all I can do is add a “html snippet.” Pretty sure I can’t edit the header. Oh well.
@BipolarArtist I think it needs to be on the same page as the one you're linking to from your CoSo profile.
So if you're linking from /subscribe to here, you have to link to /subscribe from your profile here
@got it is on the homepage now at the bottom.
@BipolarArtist The only other thing I can think of, is that because the link is in an iframe that it just wouldn't be honored. That's frustrating as heck. I'm not sure how to get around that without making a website not built in GoDaddy's site maker.
I have a GoDaddy account and I tried looking around a little too, without any luck.
@got thanks for looking into it. Yeah that must be the issue. If I get to the point where I can justify a different plan I’ll switch it up.
@BipolarArtist
I did the same. Not sure what it’s supposed to do beyond validate you as the owner when you link to it from your profile.
