My cover of Nick Lowe's "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" is suddenly getting tons of streaming in....

FINLAND????

Okay gang, WTF?

OMG.
Kinky Friedman has died at the age of 79. I met him when he was running for Texas Governor. I've read his books and went to a couple of his music venues.

Kinky was not a native Texan, but he once said that he had to come to Texas because we were the only state that would put up with his nonsense.

One of my fav Kinky slogans...
"Remember: Y'all is singular. All y'all is plural. All y'all's is plural possessive."

Thanks to @Traces_of_Texas for posting.

He wrote memoirs with Willie Nelson

A great loss. Bill Cobbs, a man whose name you probably don't know, but whose face you will recognize immediately. Fantastic Charactor Actor.

This sucks.

In my mid 20's I was a Cable TV Exec. I worked for one of Mtv's founders. You young'ns don't know this, but Mtv (and VH1) were once shapers of the music industry. It was one hell of a time. The entire reason for music videos was Mtv (VH1 came later).

All gone. All of it, gone. It's a sad day. Queue up the Don McLean

An article worth reading. I would add that if there is a ban on no-fault divorce that all of the spouses of the people who enact it should file for divorce, because this type of bill IS spousal abuse.

Many people don't realize how RECENT no-fault divorce is. A dear friend of mine had to say in court that he had abused his wife when she filed for divorce (she had married him to get citizenship) in a state without it where he didn't even live.

As promised, here is a link to my blog for this week's version of Radio Free California: Episode 2426. It contains the usual playlist plus the extra song that's not on Spotify, special programming notes as this Thursday will be run differently than we usually do it (4 albums on the album show this week!), cheap shots at the political stories of the day, and more. Enjoy!

Justice Sonia Sotomayor warned that her right-wing colleagues' finding that American citizens have no right to have their foreign spouses admitted to the U.S. will disproportionately harm same-sex couples—and could foreshadow a future reversal of federal LGBTQ+ marriage equality. Sotomayor's assertion that the majority's decision erodes LGBTQ+ marriage protections follow far-right Justice Thomas' suggestion in Dobbs that the high court should reexamine the right to same-sex marriage.

Available wherever you get your tunage. Not just the Spotify link above.

I have been a fan of bassist Endea Williams for a while now; the's the bassist in Louis Cato's band on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I've watched her play her heart out and keep up with the best of them.

So today I finally went looking for any mosuc she's relesed on her own, and lo and behold there's one fantastic jazz album out there, called "Feel Good Music". She has of course guested on many albums, but this one is so worth a listen.

I bought Dr. Fauci's book.

It's quite likely the only way I'll ever get to say "Thank you".

Anyone who blathers on abot "Critical Race Theory" just doesn't want you to know tthat they and their parents did this. From the mouth of one of the better baseball players of all time.

I have this guitar riff in my head (and at my guitar) that I can't seem to drop. It would be an instrumental piece in 5/8 time.

It's nothing terribly difficult - in fact it's pretty simple and easy to play once you have the rhythm down - and I can't shake it. It's the sort of thing that you just close your eyes, lean back in your chair, and let wash over you.

I had never planned on it being a song; it's just something fun to warm up with.

But my brain says I need to turn it into a full song.

I really didn't appreciate the bass part until I saw it live.

Lake Street Dive from last night's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert...

Really looking forward to this album.

I notice in the Republican Primary in Virginia that 37% of all Republicans voted for someone OTHER than Trump.

That was today.

Holy carp this is impressive. Celebrating , this is Kings Return, whom I had never heard of before 10 minutes ago. with an astonishing a capella rendition of "After the Love has Gone"
