Willie Mays.

Never saw him play. Met him once, at the unveiling of the statue of him at what was then Pac-Bell Park. It was a busy day so I doubt I left any impression at all and that's fine.

The man had so many defining moments in one of the most amazing careers in the history of the game and people who understand the game better than I do can explain it better than I will.

For us, he was the game. A legend by just about every standard.

Gonna bookmark this concept for later:

Compare the number of cases of that can be traced back to each nominating convention. Both have the potential to be spreader events, but only one will have so many unvaccinated people in the same room.

I'm curious what the comparison would be.

Musically speaking, I can honestly say I did not see this coming. The video ain't much but the song...

Oh man, the SONG! I missed this one completely.

As promised, here is the blog version of Radio Free California, Episode 2425. It has the playlist, programming notes for the station for this week (The Album Show, The New Music, Rotating Out and of course 10 at 10) an embedded version of the radio station plus links where you can find it (and grab the app) and a few cheap shots at news stories of the day. There's also a video preview of music I'm adding next week. Enjoy!

Airbag, the Norwegian prog-rock band, has dropped a new album called "The Century of the Self" and it is a wonderfully restrained and melodic album full of wonderful songwriting and performing. Definately worth a listen on the platform of your choice.

This won't be everyone's cup of tea and there are certain references some Americans won't get and it is most certainly not politically correct, but it's funny (at least to me) and a gentle reminder that YouTube star "Uncle Roger" doesn't actually sound like that in real life.

Also, none of the comedians in the thumbnail actually appear in this. Strange.

When these bullshit decisions come down, I want the news media to start reporting it as "The Supreme Court Decided 6-3 along Party Lines".

The idea that the court is apolitical is no longer valid.

This decision is horrific. Aparrently the 2nd amendment not only covers guns but accessories too.

While the Fake AI is more than a little distracting this new song from Wishy is pretty damned good.

If you are against transgender people, throw away your cell phone. Right now.

I did not know this until yesterday, but the creator of the microchip technology that makes cell phones possible was Lynn Conway - who transitioned in 1968. She was fired by IBM for it but changed the world anyway. She passed just this week.

Your cell phone is a Pride symbol. If you can't live with that, throw it out.

2 Canadians, 2 Americans.

We were called ASK. Late 80's Los Angeles-based alt-pop band. From left to right, TJ Klassen, Drums. Kevin Donville, bass, guitar and lead vocals. Yours Truly, lead guitar, piano, vocals. Ed Lee, keyboards, bass, vocals.

This "professional" photo was taken in my living room. We moved a couch to expose white wall and my friend Felicia took the photo. We would use it until the band dissolved.

I don't think I own that tie anymore. Still have the guitar.

It was the 80's. 🤣

Them: "Hunter Biden was found guilty of felony charges."

Me: Nope. Still don't care.

Codicil to the old adage, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it"

Those who do not learn history are doomen to say stupid shit about it.

You know, if Trump was processed through a Banana Republic legal system he'd have been found not guilty.
