I think my single favorite new music discovery this year so far is Lola Young, a 23 year-old from the UK who write truly in your face lyrics and strong songs to go along with them. When I first discovered her song "Wish You Were Dead" she had somewhere around 40,000 monthly plays on Spotify. She now has over 1 Million.
She's earned it.
Here is here new single, "Messy". It will join the rotation at my radio station

Required listening.
One of the most imaginative bass lines I've heard in a while.
And to me it sounds like a song that would be the closing track on an album. Knowing Nick Cave, it of course won't be.

Jean-Luc Ponty's out-of-print album "Life Enigma" is now finally available for streaming! It was the first album he released on his own label.
The link below is for Spotify but it's available anywhere.
It's pretty good in my opinion. It still has some of the excesses of his "computer age" music, but there's some real jazz fusion there as well, and Ponty is still one of the pioneers of jazz violin.
If you like this sort of thing, you should check it out.

Pro tip for any gfuitarists who want to play Cory's part in this song - he has tuned the low E string down to drop D.
I don't do a lot of producing/remixing any more - that's more a thing I did in my 30's. but here's one I did two years ago.
Kiffie is a British Synthwave artist who is a friend of mine. The original for this is on his album "Pixelation". I simplified it, added the harmony vocals (just him re-tuned), mixed in some Clara Schuman, and lengthened it by about 15 seconds. Seriously outside my comfort zone, but fun to do.
All to raise $$ for Planned Parenthood.
