I had my first loss in Wordle today, but I suppose that's just the breaks. Pretty annoying. I was so close... but I wasn't born to it.

The thing with that cliche is that a different premise could seed a better story.

For example, I really like Leaving Las Vegas. It turned the indecent proposal and the rush Vegas wedding premise into something very funny and also heart-wrenching.

It only takes a little extra effort to subvert a cliche and it can be so rewarding.

@SydneyBlackburn Yeah, as someone who once quite deliberately and soberly got married in Vegas, that plot device has always annoyed the heck out of me.

I had characters rush to marry in Vegas in one of my books (married by Elvis). But they did it on purpose, and with adequate time allowed for getting the license at the clerk's office.

Honestly, it makes a difference. Reviews can be as simple or detailed as you like, positive or objectively critical, but having them there is a huge boost for our books and it also helps our process. I consider my target-readers' comments and preferences carefully when I write.

@opie Yeah, I checked out at some point. And you're absolutely right about Kate Bush—the song is the best part of the whole thing.

The thing that's amazing about The Offer is that, while I objectively know The Godfather made it to theatres, it's got me on the edge of my seat worrying that it might never get made.

I'm suffering from agida watching this series, but loving every minute of it. Brilliant storytelling and great actors.

@Armchaircouch That's brilliant. It does everything! The easiest way to clean the microwave is to put a small bowl of vinegar and water in there, let it run for a couple of minutes. Then a quick wipe down and ta-da! I honestly do all kinds of things with vinegar.
