@MrGoat I was in Florida (I know) and the stadium across from the hotel was hosting her concert. The lobby was all pink and sequins and (not to sound like an old man) clothes I definitely would not be comfortable my 11 year old going out in.
@singlemaltgirl Yup. New York, California and Texas represent the majority of the money that flows from the states to the feds.
@PaganMother oh he isn’t.
@carmen two massive egos when only one man can be top dog and both want it down to the fiber of their souls? No way!
5. This will also affect state schools. The University of California system is probably the greatest public education system in the US and easily a top 10 in the world. Drastic funding cuts. California might be able to manage. But what about state schools in other countries? Their locals can’t often afford out-of-state tuition so state schools offer a good option for higher education.
3. The things they could cut in “leaving it up to the states” would likely impact the states they won most directly. Say what you will about New York or California, but they could fund stuff that Mississippi can not.
4. This will impact things like early-childhood education, disability programs, after-school education, college preparation, trade and vocational schools, school lunch programs and test preparation.
So what many people don’t understand is what the new DOGE (see my previous toot) cutting things like the department of education would do. First note: this congress puts all the weird shit I will reference into play because we live in crazyland.
1. They’re not an official department. Congress needs to create true departments. They will most likely be an advisory committee.
2. They cannot change funding for the DoE. Congress needs to do that (see my earlier note).

@AskTheDevil I just hope it doesn't come to that.
He's not the strongest member of the team, so if I had to absolutely cut one person it would have to be him. Doesn't make it any more enjoyable.
I'm feeling really down today. Election doomerism is kicking hard. My boss is looking for us to cut costs and there's just not much more out of the services we have that I can find. I'm basically down to seeing if we can shave $20/mo off of various cloud services.
If we can't, there will be a reduction in headcount. I'll probably be fine (just no raise) but I know I'd have to drop someone on my team. Good guy. I'd have to absorb his workload.
@th3j35t3r Holy fuck, I didn't think it could get worse than the "Your Body, My Choice" shit.
My emotions this past week have vacillated between anger and depression and a lot in between. I try to pepper in a bit of cynical humor to try to keep my spirits as much up as I can. It's what I do.
Corey Booker is a better man than I am.
@Siren_six natural state of being. They don't know how to be happy unless it's by seeing someone else punched down.
@jdtasker I do that enough in chats and texts that all my non-tech friends have picked up on it.
@jdtasker a sed-man of culture I see.
Professional computer nerd. Pretty much an amateur at everything else.
