This is a poppy native to New Mexico. It is an ephemeral which means the blooms are short lived. I let these spring wild all over. They are great food in early spring for all kinds of pollinators. This is the last of them for this year.

The next morning we had to meet at Pine ridge so had to get up early to see the belongings. I learned she was homeless and sleeping in a tent in that extreme weather so I offered to give her a ride back, which other people ended up doing but I got her contact I go so I could research.
I finished my research. She’s from Conquering Bear, not Spotted Elk. This was a frail woman and i was worried when I found out she hitchhiked to Rapid City…
