Red velvet isn't a flavour. At best, it's a rug. You'll have to think of another name if you expect me to eat it 😝

Is there a hashtag for youth/community workers on here, btw? I know, bit niche, but figured I'd ask.. It's the sort of role I think could really benefit from tip-spreading (not a euphemism, I have my DBS to think of) and networking

I'm looking for Behaviour Mentor type jobs at the moment, via recruitment agencies. Nearly all are in schools and require a degree in Psychology. Seems a bit counterproductive, tbh - I've worked for decades in youth and community work and, or of all the people who stand out as being particularly effective at changing young people's behaviour, very few were graduates.

Not to do down academia at all, but there are a lot of other factors involved, not just formal qualifications.

I'm guessing it's probably not the best idea to be jumping syraight into procedural generation but screw it. When you're out of your depth, it doesn't matter if you're drowning in 20ft of water or 200ft, right? 😁

Last night, I decided to download and install Unity and try to learn how to use it and make something. Seemed a good idea at the time.

Not so sure about it in the cold light of morning.

A while back I posted some good videos from the Library of Congress and the Quakers where they spoke of genealogy records.

I'll post a few take-aways for

There is something you can do to help.

I don't have any classified documents in my house. I'm starting to feel left out.

Integration is kind've a two-way street. Bugs me when people complain about immigrants not integrating, like they don't have their own part to play as well.

Good.

There are countless trolls on other platforms defending over this latest arrest but, having followed his exploits for some years now, I feel I'm on pretty safe ground, legally and morally, in saying that I think he's a predator who preyed on women and children for his own benefit.

All that 'Matrix' stuff is a cover.

You know what? Good on Drew Barrymore.

I haven't seen the flim, I haven't seen Ryan Keira Armstrong's performance in it, but ... it strikes me as a really shit thing to be labelling a 12-year old with an 'award' like this, so fair play to Drew Barrymore for calling it out.

Question for those using in the - I get that the aim is primarily about reducing waste rather than helping people who need stuff, but I'm curious:

1) are you seeing a rise in what you believe are commercial requests under the Wanted section?

2) do commercial requests for wanted items fit with what you believed the site to be about?

Trying to pose the questions as neutrally as I can, it's a thing I'm genuinely interested in.

I think I may be in a minority judging by all the pet videos I see, but I talk to my cat like it's an adult rather than a baby. Is this weird?

Gotta say, it's brilliant when you're working in the public sector and your manager has a subversive streak you can work with to undermine the overall corporate culture to some extent 😁
