Instead of making those New Year's resolutions that tend to never be fulfilled, try something different.

Get a large jar, make some smallish strips of paper. Decorate jar as you wish. Then each day or week, write down.....

Option 1: The most exciting thing you did.

Option 2: The biggest lesson you learned.

Option 3:Something you are grateful for.

Option 4: What random act of kindness you did.

At the end of the year, reflect.

If you ever post your pain or struggle, and no one replies--especially if you are very new--it is very likely that folks saw you but didn't have a chance to reply before the firehose flowed on.

This is hard to remember. It is. But low response rates do not mean you don't matter or people don't care.

I dearly hope people mostly receive comfort when they need it.

But if there is a miss, it doesn't derive from indifference. Not here.

Take a pause. Find something that will bring you joy. Doesn't even have to be something big. Tidy up your desk. Dust that monitor. Go get a tall glass of ice water. Or hot tea, if that's your thing. Some small reset. You'll be glad you did!

May your winter season be filled with love, may magic always live in your heart and may the spirit of kindness surround and protect you.
