I just picked my kid up from school and her friends dad came over to say hi, then started telling me about his lawn and so I started talking about my lawn and so just call me official suburban dad now
@vozoto
Did you talk about lawn tractors though? That's a step even deeper.
@Kurtroedeger lawns around here are not big enough for those.
@vozoto I used to live on 1/10th acre. Push mowing and whippersnapper took 20 min tops I clouding sweeping the sidewalk and cleanup. I still saw people with lawn tractors. 🤷♀️
@Kurtroedeger that's almost 4 times the size of most people's lawns here.
@NIUPEOPLESCHAMP oh wow, I haven’t watched that in 30 years.
@vozoto Hilarious
Loose Theory: Mid 50’s-60’s, after 40 yrs of horrors (WWI thru Korea) came baby and suburban booms. People were BUSY! Could be for those current head of families (usually men) mowing was relatively easy, something consistent, source of pride & appearance of having a hold on things. See rise of TV dinners, fast food that became go to’s for the harried family cook (usually women). Corps saw needs. Add vilification of dandelions 😂, poof lawn adoration began.
