Doing alot of family history recently and it's very possible that my grandmother's great-great-grandmother's name was....

More family history findings. A sad one.

On this day in 1942 (weird how I'm discovering this today of all days), my grandfather's brother was on a merchant navy ship that was torpedoed by a U-boat off Newfoundland in the middle of the night.

Weird. My great-grandfather's brother seemed to have randomly moved to South Dakota and set up a life there as a farmer. His draft registration shows he tried to say he was exempt from service as a farmer but I guess that didn't work as he served in the US army in WW1 in a ballon squadron.
