If I had paid good money to see Taylor Swift and her band perform live, I'd be asking for at refund. Besides the lead vocals being heavily auto-tuned, much of what the audience hears is pre-recorded.

@voltronic - I'm still not sure about the Duran Duran concert I just went to... Simon started off pretty shakey and suddenly became almost recording studio good after 3 songs.
@voltronic Swift is an average singer, but she's the best damned marketeer of our generation. I'm really impressed by her as a person, but as a lyricist and vocalist, she wouldn't make my top 100 list.
@Rocker
Not the one doing the marketing; she's the brand being sold.
@voltronic Yes, I don't mean actual marketing, she had the foundational looks to pull in the pros from early on. I mean the way she figured out what would be commercially sustainable, noted what didn’t work, and adapted in her early teens.
Some musicians need their music to carry their voice, their values, and prioritize that over being able to make a living. A lot have to compromise, one for me, three for them. Swift honed in on a sellable product, and allowed herself to be molded.
And yet she easily fills stadiums multiple nights
More are there for the spectacle. Not the talent she has
Here is an earlier analysis Fil did which specifically addresses Dave Grohl's assertion that Taylor was miming her vocals on her tour.
