"In sum, the Framers did not write the Second Amendment in order to protect a private right of armed self defense." -- Sotomayor, with the dissent in McDonald

Who's armed Secret Service detail shot an armed carjacker in front of her DC home yesterday.

Defense for me, not for thee.

I guess she's using the interpretation that "well-regulated militia" means the entire amendment is only referring to an organized standing army, which never made sense. I believe Reagan was trying to use the same justification when he started the trend of arbitrary gun control laws because his state admin was afraid of black people owning guns, namely the Black Panthers. If I remember that, then a SCOTUS Justice should too.

Or that gun ownership restrictions in the US are racist to their origins, taking gun rights away from freed slaves. (Also a big reason police departments started, but that's a bigger conversation.)

Honestly I think we need to wipe the slate with SCOTUS. Fire them all, start fresh with *elected* justices, 16 yr term limit, forced retirement at 75.

I always find the history of gun laws amusing. When it was minorities arming themselves, California Republicans suddenly didn't see a problem with restrictions. Laws for thee...
