Ok, so to help people nail down my favorite:
It's not a big hit, and it's not on either of my two favorite albums, which are the White Album and Abbey Road.
I posted in a reply below that wife's favorite is Lady Madonna. 1968 single, never appeared on an album.
Since no one guessed mine, everyone who guessed is now required to listen to it.
Be warned: You may be in tears by the end, because it's so beautiful. Double that warning if you are a parent.

@voltronic I’m assuming it was released as a single?
@voltronic Okay, well I have a guess. It’s on The Beatles and there is a classical reference. “Blackbird”?
@Siren_six
Nope, already said not the White Album.
@voltronic Wiki says that one’s on The Beatles “The Beatles” album. But cheers!
@voltronic Okay, wiki is stupid. It needs to cite both names.
@Siren_six
The album *is* called The Beatles. It's only *known* as The White Album.
The cover is pure white with 'The Beatles' almost invisibly embossed, not printed.
@stueytheround I never remember colloquial titles either. It honestly be helpful if music journalists used both the official and colloquial titles in their articles. They only give the official ones. This is more of a research pick I’m making. @voltronic
@Siren_six
Hmm, actually I don't think it was.
@voltronic
Eleanor Rigby? I forgot that. I love that, too.
@EileenKCarpenter
Nope, but that's a good one.
@voltronic Was your wife's favourite a cover version?
None of the band members are playing? Singing though?
@voltronic
Being for the benefit of Mister Kite
@stueytheround
Nope
@stueytheround
Mine - none of the members playing their instruments. One member not involved in any way shape or form with the production.
Wife's favorite was definitely not a cover. Think late period. And it was an A side single.
@voltronic
Ok.
Well I think your wife's is Across The Universe because as far as I know it only turned up on the Blue best of album (I seriously considered Old Brown Shoe as well).
But I am baffled by yours! 🤣
@stueytheround
No, sorry. I'll give you hers: Lady Madonna.
Mine, I'll give one last clue. It uses the instrumentation of Eleanor Rigby plus one significant addition.
@stueytheround
I don't think I even know Old Brown Shoe, but I know it exists. The catalogue is just so deep!
I was never going to guess this...
@voltronic I worked it out about 5 minutes too late 🤣
So many great songs people have mentioned. No one has mentioned my favorite yet.
Two more hints: It appears near the middle of the album, and none of the band members are playing.
My wife's favorite never appeared on an album at all. It was only released as a single.
