^^ at some point the only industries on this planet will be converted to climaye tech mitigating climate death. π―
3.1c = 100 miles either side of equator that will be be un-survivable. This will displace, force to migrate, or death of 3 billion people (mostly in asia)
Oh. Also no shipping between north and south hemisphere. Maybe subs might. But not surface ships.
My sources are straight from scientists who are also on the call. Today I'm certian people are going to be despondent today :(
Not sure I follow the no shipping prediction.
@Sr0bi my gut instinct is that ships engines are water cooled systems. How hot would the engine rooms get while travelling the equator zone, could a human routinely survive those temperatures for significant times without impacting health?
@ucantstop_me
@ucantstop_me the sad thing? it will create no urgency for the powers that could do something to escalate plans to try & pause this in any way.
@singlemaltgirl we can't rely on the United States. We won't even try now.
Also I'm working with some indigenous folk on how they are protecting themselves. (As we all should)
If they try and put indigenous back onto reservations, you will find me fighting in northern minesota. I'm so fucking serious about this.
@ucantstop_me
Pretty sure it's too late already.
Population displacements driven by famine and lack of water will lead to resource wars and societal collapse.
I see the move to authoritarianism as a response to the coming chaos -- control what you can and use the lifeboat paddles to keep "others" out of the lifeboat
If there's was a global socialist push to reorient our economies to sustainability we might make it
It's the billionaires who should be beaten with lifeboat paddles
@BrentSullivan we know there will be death. Sorry to say the hyper consumerism/consumption under this capitalistic slavery is the problem with the billionaires too. I don't want to argue this but capitalism is the problem.
It's killing the planet
Long term we will not survive. We use 1.7 Earth's with of resources every year. But we have 80%of the tech to mitigate a lot. So I don't adopt a defeatist attitudes.
Billionaires and capitalism is the problem.
However
Next
@BrentSullivan not all will die. The earth can support 600 to 800 million people without fossil fuels.
@BrentSullivan @ucantstop_me This also is what I have been screaming into the void. This is a plan, not happenstance.
@phac3ti0us @BrentSullivan it's not too late. This is part of the problem. People give up
@ucantstop_me @phac3ti0us
Suggest a viable strategy please
I've been in the fight for quite a while. I no longer see a path
Most people don't know we've already gone past 2. The metric is 2 for a decade, so we won't admit to 2 for another 9 years.
@ucantstop_me @phac3ti0us
It is too late without fundamental change in how the whole damn world works
That I clearly see we have no chance doesn't mean I quit
There's a windmill or two in need of well placed lances. I can take pride in the action while letting go of the outcome. It's the only way I know to remain same
@BrentSullivan I'm not talking about windmills. I'm talking about losing the microbes that are required for everything in our ecosystem to work. @phac3ti0us
^^^ the estimate of how long we have is 100 years. Now it may be less since oil is a priotity.
Surprised. Don't be. We have mIltple ecosystems across the world that in complete collapse. It's not something that happens all at once... it's starts like this.
