Damn. Just had a choking incident with water. This is 3rd time I experienced true choking (no air no noise, everything just freezes and throat closes.

After my throat closed, i relaxed into a meditative state and focused only on getting air. After 30 seconds I could get tiny sips of air through.

I was about to hit my emergency signal on my phone when my daughter heard me - after about 10 mins of slow breathing, my full breath returned.

@holon42 it is. At least the first time it was - first time was worse, took much longer to recover because I was frantically gesturing to my friends for help (wasting energy)

But this time was helped by my meditation practice. No panic, just the wee little breaths until it cleared. πŸ™

@ucantstop_me

a kind of spasm? i'm glad you found a way to get through it without panicπŸ‘πŸΌ

@holon42 me too. I was pleased by that because it shows my my meditation practices are working to assist when needed.

@holon42 so when the gum/saliva incident happened (some time in mid 80s) my throat didn't completely stop because rhe saliva was stuck at the right part of throat that caused my esophagus to pa8nfully spasm in what seemed to by my body's attempt to move it from that spot.

This time no spasms like that. It was mostly painless, throat is still a bit raspy.

@ucantstop_me

the body does get traumatized by episodes like that.
