@gshevlin oh ffs. police usually set up speed traps wherever posted speed changes like oh, on a highway, by schools, etc. it's not about church. it's about changing speed limits and peeps not paying attn.
i also believe the police post drinking & driving traps on holiday wknds and fri/sat nights close to bars & entertainment districts.

Not to mention, there's a good chance that the speed limit is lower at that spot because it's near the church. If it's a big one, then it probably has significant traffic congestion around service times and a number of pedestrians.
It's not a gotcha. It's safety.
And driving at nearly 150% of the speed limit is absolutely reckless.
