and those hot spots are predominantly in red states, begging the question whether it's because housing prices are cheaper and people are short-sighted & stupid, or whether they're just following their jobs which are increasingly moving to pro-corporate anti-worker states

ONLY reason my husband and I are in Texas is his job. He has been trying to stay within the company but move to another location. That hasn't been easy. We're not the only ones trying to get into those positions.

Only reason my sister ended up in TX is her husband's job. She never wanted to get stuck here. But, now her kids are marrying Texans and having kids, and she wants to be near them, so she's resigned. I've never hated living anywhere more, and I've moved 19 times.

I very much want to get out of Texas, and move closer to my sister in Oregon.
But I'm having trouble saving the money.

I'm sorry. I know how that goes. His sister was killed in April. She left life insurance. Can't retire on it or anything, but it may help us escape sooner. So, thank you, Tiffany. But, we'd stay in Texass forever if it meant getting her back.
