So British people are ants who traded their strength for beans and toast.

In the states, you have to look for Heinz Vegetarian Baked Beans.
In Britain, I think it's just Heinz Beans/Beanz.
You could make your own, but British baked beans are different from the way we make them in the States.

It's very common for them to have a bit of bacon or salt pork in them. Also, ours are quite sweet. Usually made with brown sugar and molasses. Often a bit of mustard. Much less tomatoey
This is a pretty typical recipe:

One of my partners goes out of his way to make a vegan bean soup for me from time to time.
He's from a particular pocket of the deep south and it's always incredible.
@NiveusLepus @tyghebright @EnochianEntropy @FrankCannon I don't know if you have mushy peas in US but mushy pea curry uses baked beans, is vegan and absolutely amazing. I learned some meat-free options because of my fear of "could be poor" too.

Mushy peas are not a thing in the US. Can't even get the right kind of peas here. I've made them for myself, but find the sweetness strange.
@tyghebright @NiveusLepus @EnochianEntropy @FrankCannon I don't much care for them on their own but in a curry is good.
@Cynanthrope Nope,no curry for me. @tyghebright @NiveusLepus @EnochianEntropy
@tyghebright Try a little mint in them.👍
@Cynanthrope @NiveusLepus @EnochianEntropy
@tyghebright @EnochianEntropy @NiveusLepus @FrankCannon here, baked beans are always vegan unless you buy the "with pork sausages" variety.
@tyghebright @EnochianEntropy @NiveusLepus @FrankCannon you mean there's a variety that isn't vegetarian in the US?
