1/2: I am really rooting for the Ukrainians, even more than I was before, seeing as how it looks like this might really be a turning point that’s positive for them in their war against the Russian invaders. I understand that not few people actively dislike and publicly decry that the Ukrainians went on the offensive into Russia’s borders, but in my opinion, what the fuck else were they gonna do? Vladimir Putin and his circle don’t care about anything other than their own pride and image, and…
2/2: … this lately development grabs them by the Charlies and yanks like nothing else. There is no spin to put on it from their end, that they may try. Also, militarily it’s the best way to come in from behind their assault against Ukraine and to potentially fuck that front up entirely and hobble the Russian military at least temporarily but leave a lasting mark.
I cannot say I am wholly optimistic because fog of war. I’m just hoping and then some that works out for the Ukrainians.
I agree.
One thing is for sure the Ukrainians have changed modern warfare forever. War colleges around the world are studying the amazing adaptability, and ingenuity of the Ukrainian fighters, their logistic support units, and their strategic planners.
I found out a bit of the tactics used in this incursion into Russia. And they are rewriting the book as they go.
@corlin: Sounds parallel in re: innovation to previous wars, as in adaptations to new technologies, innovations to due to limitations and constraints, and things that just kinda come up spontaneously.
