I was in an interview and told the guy I've been doing a thing for 17 years but not as a job, just on the side (because for some reason nobody has ever hired me to do the thing, but I never gave up) and his response after telling him my entire history was "for this role we're looking for someone who has PROFESSIONAL experience" like bitch, fuck you and that company. Matter fact, go ahead and print out my resume and application, roll them up nice and tight and shove them up your ass
@dr_zooks: I've had that happen quite a bit over the years.
@thedisasterautist it's so maddening. Next time I might ask how much more experience I need doing something, then ask how much they have, then pull out my trusty "so what makes you think you can tell me shit?" 🤣
@dr_zooks: I applied for work and had portfolio and multiple references and letters of recommendation, sometimes even from higher-ups in parts of the companies, and talked shop with them, sometimes for an hour or more. Then when it came time... I didn't get the jobs because I didn't have a B.A. in the fields or didn't have a particular paid-for certification, and HR says that's a deal-breaking requirement.
@thedisasterautist this has to be the dumbest timeline.
@thedisasterautist upsetting them would the cathartic response for myself because they saw my resume, it's right there in front of them, why waste my time? That's on them.
