Awesome.. It appears to have head of alligator, body of snake?
Dark, slithering creature seen by boat captain near NC coast stirs debate. What is it?.

Apparently it's a North American Right whale calf all by itself. They are a critically endangered species. The NC Marine Mammal Stranding Network has been working on getting it help or back to its parent(s), if possible.

Wow..I would never have guessed that. I hope NC wildlife authorities are able to get help for it quickly.

I'm glad no one has been feeding thalidomide to the alligators.
I wouldn't either. I knew it was a mammal from the blow hole, but you don't expect to see an orphaned calf. Especially such a young one. That does explain the proximity to land, though. The birthing season just started also, so I hope it's not a newborn calf 😢
I'm glad they're aware of her and are doing everything possible to help her ❤️
@suedanim that’s a whale. Sometimes they venture into fresh water - they show up in SF Bay every once in a while. Someone said it might be young… it’s possible it has a birth defect or is trailing a line or a net.
