So I got an email this morning that the new laptop I ordered "has completely shipped", and now I'm puzzling over the use of "completely" in that sentence: what was the alternative?
If you'd ordered one from IKEA that would make sense, but ... 🤷♀️
@quietphysicist This is a trend that I find very irritating. Whether the server at the restaurant assuring us that they have put in our order and reminding us of that as we sit, famished or retailers assuring us that our order is “in process” or that they’re preparing to ship it, enough already. I don’t need endless reminders that whatever I’m awaiting will arrive at some point. I credit this to beancounters who measure progress in smaller and smaller increments (or excrements.)
@cassandra17lina That is really annoying: I wish they wouldn't that. In this case though the weird thing is this is the first notice I got, like they forgot to email all the intervening steps 😄
@quietphysicist haha that is a little unsettling. Maybe the charger is in a separate shipment?
@BipolarArtist or the battery, but yeah, that's what I'm hoping 😄
I thought I was joking, but I just checked and the laptop really is arriving in two separate shipments. Curiouser and curiouser... 🤔
Fingers crossed that, whatever they are, the two shipments assemble back into a single working laptop. 🤞
