I am also unwell physically (monster cold and mystery bad blood work) and mentally. Hematology and shrinks are waiting in the wings.

@publickovacs

Bizarre combination of euphoria & untethered which is common when I land in a new destination.

Everything hurts physically because I have abused it getting here (much to my sonā€™s chagrin).

My stuff available/visible after 9 months of being packed is Christmas each day. Another Free Room to easily offload unwanted stuff.

Instead of sirens, freeways & pavement, I am surrounded by acres of cut grass on the edge of the woods.

Crickets & frogs sing me to sleep.

Peace šŸ’«

@LnzyHou
That sounds absolutely wonderful in terms of a setting! I understand that settling in is exciting and ambivalent. I am very sorry to hear that you overdid it with moving and ended up being in pain. One thing I am not, though, is surprised. I hope you can rest up and recover soon!

@publickovacs

Started PT Friday. Therapist says arm is a mess. 3X week for 8-12 weeks.

Also forgot to mention fat groundhog & deer out my windows.

@LnzyHou
I am sending the most peaceful healing wishes for your arm šŸŖ·āœØ

I am jealous of having a fat groundhog nearby tbh

@publickovacs

Right outside my windows.

Gonna buy deer corn for winter.

@publickovacs

I mean...there was my teacher...doing people stuff...

@grayman @publickovacs

I taught Adult Ed GED/ABE classes most of my career and when I occasionally ran into students many would pretend not to know me or bolt away because they didn't want others to know they didn't have a high school diploma - often including their employers.

@grayman
Asserting that teachers are humans, is certainly tricky. But I ran into some students at our town's Pride Festival on Sept 7 where I was dancing down the street in full bellydance costume which included giant golden Isis wings. Those kids know I am human.

@publickovacs in 1974 I went through the teacher training PDP (Professional Development Program) at SFU. I quit with 2 weeks to go (10 weeks into my 3 month practicum) before getting a teaching certificate because I realised it absolutely was not for me as a career.

@NorthernInvader @publickovacs

Too many ā€œteachersā€ should come to that realization as well.

Teaching is not a job.

Itā€™s a calling.

@LnzyHou @NorthernInvader

I have to agree: being an educator is a masochistic gene variation that some of us have
