#JobSearch
This is weird and a long shot, but here goes: can anyone on here help me find a WFH job w flexible hours? My short term disability will run out just as radiation will get started, and my middle school substitute position is not compatible with daily treatments and hour plus away. Having a bit of an existential thing and the Idealist.org types of searches are not leading to anything.
@SSNBubblehead
Thank you!
@publickovacs I mean yes, but also no because most of the ideas I'm coming up with that have decent odds of success are either highly illegal, terribly unethical, or just plain icky.
That's usually a sign I'm pushing my problem solving a bit too hard.
Best thing I could think of would be something like freelance web development (which you'd have to learn) using a "cold call" model - ie find local businesses with terrible/nonexistent websites and try to convince them to buy your services.
@publickovacs There are a whole bunch of similar ideas to that last one (selling custom work which requires skills most people don't have), but the skill/equipment/material barrier to entry is likely to be prohibitive in most cases.
For example, if I lost my job I'd probably try fabricating & selling metal furniture/housewares, because I have the equipment and skills to do fairly decent metal fab work, & some proven designs of my own... but at that point I'd just be commercializing my hobby.
@IrelandTorin
Unfortunately I do not have the time frame for that right now
i'm sorry i can't help, but i'll pass it on.
@holon42
I appreciate that, thank you
@publickovacs I wish you luck and good health. Definitely check usajobs.com - plenty of WFH opportunities there.
