This is a framed certificate my aunt had on the wall commemorating my great grandparents' wedding. Have never seen one with photos. And the married "BY ME" photobomb by the pastor is hilarious. #genealofy
@LiseL Married in 1886. Considering I grew up not even knowing who they were, I'm glad I have the photo of it. I didn't know the aunt who owned it until 1993.
@poemblaze I'm glad you have another leaf for your tree. As you might remember from previous conversations, I love these old photos and documents, even when they have nothing to do with my own family. There's something fascinating to me about seeing snippets of the lives of common folks who came before us.
@LiseL Me too. I love old things. Except I don't like that I'm starting to be considered an old thing. 😆
@poemblaze Not much we can do about that, I'm afraid!
@LiseL Nope. Alas. Alack.
@LiseL When I cropped out the frame it loaded. 🤷♂️
@poemblaze I bet that photobombing brought him more business than he would have had otherwise :)
@NorthernInvader Could well be.
@poemblaze LOL The pastor is a little cocky there -- or else maybe back then it was extra-important to have photographic evidence you were indeed married or else people might start accusing you of being a loose woman or something. 😂 And the pastor's like: Bring it. I married them! I DID.
@janallmac It was a curious form of advertising. They both had been previously widowed, but that wouldn't have been scandalous. I think the pastor was strutting a bit. 🤣
@poemblaze
A handsome couple. The photo of the pastor is really funny!
