In case you're wondering how homeschooling is going, my six year old asked me if snakes have long necks or long tails.
Please help.

Great question! Let's look at a skeleton of a snake and a skeleton of a dog and see what we think!
(comparative osteology is fine for 6 yo - it's all shapes)
@peemee The answer is they have long bodies. The neck and tail are both relatively short.

I believe the canonical answer is neither. The neck is just behind teh head. The tail is a few bones at the very end. Snakes are all torso, find a skeleton to see how much looks like ribs.
