Camp Siegfried:
It was "a summer camp which taught Nazi ideology, was located in Yaphank, New York, on Long Island. It was owned by the German American Bund, an American Nazi organization devoted to promoting a favorable view of Nazi Germany, ...". It "was one of many such camps in the US in the 1930s, including" ones in Grafton, WI, in Andover, NJ, in Sellersville, PA, and in Windham, NY.

@WordsmithFL Coincidence, I am guessing, although he seemed to have a German background (accent).
This page does not say why:

@nealfig We just watched a Season 3 episode last night with Siegfried. From the context, it was strongly implied he was German.
Oh well, continuity wasn't a concern in 1960s sitcoms ...
@nealfig
Colorado Springs also home to one of those camps. I forget the name, or details, but it was west of town in the foothills.
@nealfig IMO: I understand our having the right to Freedom of Speech, however: these hate/genocidal groups that aim to segregate America and gain white supremacy should NEVER be allowed to filtrate. Our military veterans DID NOT fight/die for THEM to lay roots on American soil.
@nealfig Maxwell Smart's recurring antagonist was named Siegfried. I wonder if the writers chose that as a reference or it's just a coincidence.
