Yikes, watching people working hard to spin Jack Teixeira as a heroic, young, patriotic, brave whistleblower is something else.

This went on for months. The first documents were posted online in December 2022.

The first leaks were documents he'd written out and typed by hand. The latter ones were scans of the actual documents.

"the individual using the Subject
Username explained that he had become concerned that he may be discovered making the
transcriptions of text in the workplace, so he began taking the documents to his residence and photographing them."

He was using his security clearance to monitor the investigation into his crimes.

"Accordingly, there is reason to believe that TEIXEIRA was searching for classified reporting regarding the U.S. Intelligence Community’s assessment of the identity of the individual who
transmitted classified national defense information, to include the Government Document. "

Washington Post keeps pushing the "patriotic" crap. At least they finally changed the headline.

Why the hell is this buried way down in the article? At this point, the article had dropped the "patriot" word to describe him four times.

Had I posted this thread on Twitter, I'd have been hammered by Pro-Russia trolls hailing this guy as a hero.

@jjmacnab

This is the line that chilled me:

"The friend said he met Teixeira before 2020 on a Discord server mainly focused on guns and libertarian politics, and bonded over their shared interest in Glock handguns and Catholicism."

@jjmacnab I'm so glad you've left that absurd, abusive site behind! 😊

@jjmacnab Nothing says "patriotic hero" quite like racist and antisemitic slurs. 😫

@jjmacnab he was the"leader" of an online group. I look forward to more arrests.

@b4cks4w @jjmacnab

Then again, a bunch of the group members were teenagers, so...more likely that they end up providing the testimony against this guy. (and, ideally, some come out of the cult as a result).

@jjmacnab

How do the phrases "Ruby Ridge", "Waco" and "Oklahoma City" being posted anywhere (much less Discord) not immediately set off alarm klaxons deep in some three letter agency somewhere?

@jjmacnab some fucked up parenting, that so many of the ppl on that discord were supposedly underage...

@jjmacnab I had the exact same question. You've articulated it better than I could.

@jjmacnab there’s another American who comes to mind who would be a good “candidate” for title 18 violations.
